Bró Coffee is in the final stages of the prestigious Irish Food Awards for their Bró House Blend coffee. The awards ‘blind tasting’ selection process is considered the gold standard – and amongst consumers is highly regarded.
This is Bró’s first submission to the awards – now in their 14th year – and for this entry it’s the Bró House Blend under the spotlight.
Developed by Michael and Brenda Johnston, Bro House blend is an Arabica coffee, combining beans from Brazil, Columbian and Honduras. The beans are specially roasted, combining two different roasting techniques, in small batches in Co Down – the process is designed to deliver the best flavour with a smooth finish.
Bró House is perfectly blended delivering a great body, cereal aroma with notes of malt, chocolate and plum with a medium acidity and a prolonged hazelnut after-taste.
Bro Coffee Director Michael Johnston says: “The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce on the island of Ireland and we are delighted to be listed as a finalist. Previous Co Down winners include Neary Nogs, the Cookie Jar Indie Fude and Castle Screen Farm among others.
“The Blas accreditation has a high recognition amongst Irish consumers and using the award logo on packs encourages shoppers to buy these products. It is a guarantee of a top quality Irish product, so it would be fantastic to win a place in the top three. Results are out in October so we’ll have to wait until then and hope our Bro House Blend delivers the goods!”
Bró House is in summary - punchy and memorable. It is one of our best-selling coffees to our Bró at Home and commercial clients.
