Halloween Coffee Recipes to Try at Home
Halloween is the perfect excuse to get a little creative with your coffee.
As the evenings get darker and the temperatures start to drop, there's nothing quite like a warming brew to make staying indoors feel that little bit better. And if you're a coffee lover, why not give your usual cup a seasonal twist?
No complicated barista skills required. Just your favourite Bró Coffee, a few ingredients and a little Halloween spirit.
1. Pumpkin Spice Latte – A Halloween Classic
Is it really autumn without a Pumpkin Spice Latte?
With warming cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger, this seasonal favourite is ideal for those chilly October mornings or cosy evenings on the sofa.
And you don't need to head to a coffee shop to enjoy one.
What You'll Need
- 1 shot of espresso (approximately 30ml)
- 200ml milk of your choice
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin purée
- 1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A small pinch of nutmeg and ginger
- Whipped cream (optional)
How to Make It
- Brew a fresh shot of Bró espresso using your preferred brewing method.
- In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk, pumpkin purée, maple syrup and spices, whisking until smooth and warmed through.
- Froth the milk mixture using a milk frother, if you have one.
- Pour your espresso into a mug, followed by the warm pumpkin milk.
- Finish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon if you're feeling particularly indulgent.
Our Bró Tip: A smooth, balanced medium roast works particularly well with warming spices, allowing the coffee flavour to come through without being overpowered.
2. Toasted Marshmallow Mocha – A Sweet Halloween Treat
If your idea of Halloween involves a cosy blanket, a scary film and something chocolatey, this one's for you.
Combining rich coffee, smooth chocolate and the sweet flavour of toasted marshmallow, this mocha is a proper autumn indulgence.
What You'll Need
- 1 shot of Bró espresso (approximately 30ml)
- 180ml milk
- 20g milk or dark chocolate
- 10–15ml toasted marshmallow syrup
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Mini marshmallows for topping
How to Make It
- Brew your Bró espresso and set it aside.
- Gently warm the milk in a saucepan, adding the chocolate and stirring until completely melted.
- Add the toasted marshmallow syrup and mix well.
- Pour the espresso into your favourite mug.
- Slowly add the warm chocolate milk and stir.
- Top with whipped cream and mini marshmallows.
For an extra Halloween touch, lightly toast the marshmallows using a kitchen blowtorch, following the manufacturer's safety instructions.
Our Bró Tip: Try using a good-quality chocolate for an extra indulgent finish.
3. Spiced Maple Coffee – Autumn in a Mug
Not every Halloween coffee needs whipped cream and chocolate.
Sometimes, the simplest flavours are the best.
This Spiced Maple Coffee combines the natural sweetness of maple syrup with cinnamon and freshly brewed coffee to create a comforting drink that's easy to make at any time of day.
It's particularly good for those slower weekend mornings when there's no rush to get out the door.
What You'll Need
- 150ml freshly brewed Bró Coffee
- 1–2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
- A pinch of ground cinnamon
- A tiny pinch of nutmeg
- 50ml warm milk (optional)
How to Make It
- Brew your favourite Bró Coffee using a cafetière, filter brewer or your preferred method.
- Add the maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg to your mug.
- Pour in the freshly brewed coffee and stir until combined.
- Add a splash of warm milk if you prefer a creamier finish.
- Sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top.
Our Bró Tip: Start with a small amount of maple syrup and adjust to taste. You want the sweetness to complement the coffee, not overpower it.
4. Halloween Iced Latte – A Little Dark Magic
Who says iced coffee is only for summer?
If you're someone who enjoys iced coffee all year round, this Halloween-inspired latte is a fun way to give your usual drink a darker, more indulgent twist.
What You'll Need
- 1–2 shots of Bró espresso
- 150ml cold milk
- 15ml chocolate syrup
- A handful of ice cubes
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Cocoa powder for decoration
How to Make It
- Brew your espresso and allow it to cool slightly.
- Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of a tall glass.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Pour in the cold milk.
- Slowly add the espresso for a layered effect.
- Finish with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.
Want to make it extra spooky? Use a little chocolate syrup to create a spiderweb design on top of the whipped cream.
Our Bró Tip: For a stronger coffee flavour, use a double espresso. A moka pot can also produce a concentrated coffee that works well in iced drinks.
The Secret to Great Halloween Coffee? Start With Good Beans.
Seasonal ingredients are great, but the coffee itself still matters.
Our coffee is roasted locally in County Down in small batches, using our Loring Smart Roast to help achieve the smooth, balanced flavour we're known for.
That means you can enjoy the richness of your coffee alongside your favourite seasonal ingredients, rather than losing the coffee flavour completely.
And you don't need an expensive espresso machine to get started.
A cafetière, moka pot or home coffee machine can all help you create delicious drinks with a little experimentation.
The trick is finding the right balance between coffee, milk and flavourings.
Make Your Halloween Night In a Little More Bró
Once you've chosen your Halloween coffee, all that's left is to create the perfect setting.
